The Vision Many in the world are heralding the dawn of an "African Millennium". Culturally and politically, Africa is poised to undergo more changes and wield more influence in the world than ever before. However, much of what is visually documented about Africa is a view from outside, seen through eyes that are not African and, in some cases, not Africa friendly. Only if Africans can present their stories to the world will Africa gain renewed respect and authentically express her promising future. Our mission is to provide a global voice for Africans to tell their own stories to the world. The Company Africast Global Media, Inc., a Delaware Corporation formed in February, 2004, and its subsidiaries, is a diversified entertainment and multi-media company that produces, acquires and distributes a variety of Africa-focused media content which is commercially viable, informative, and entertaining. As a diversified entertainment and multi-media enterprise, the Company is structured into four main subsidiaries: Africast Television Network (AFRICAST TV) - currently offering a Pan-African Movie Channel, and adding later in 2005, an African News & Entertainment Channel comprising the re-broadcast of live programming from country-specific African broadcasters. Africast Games - develops and markets, in association with its strategic partners, historically-themed African video games and animation, with emphasis on massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG) Africast Film Fund - finances, in association with its strategic partners, the acquisition, development and production of African feature films and television properties for the theatrical, television, and home video markets. The Company has acquired the exclusive rights to a large volume of African feature films and television properties, and is currently working on a number of quality film projects. Africast Foundation - a non-profit foundation focused on health and education in Africa. The Africast Foundation is also a founding member of the African Motion Picture Consortium, and organizes the annual AFRICAST Motion Picture Awards event. Africast Television Network (AFRICAST TV) Africast Television Network, a subsidiary of Africast Global Media, currently offers a Pan-African Movie Channel featuring popular film and drama programming from Africa via subscription video on demand (SVOD). Later in 2005, AFRICAST TV will add a 24-hour basic cable channel on digital terrestrial cable systems and direct satellite broadcast across the U.S. featuring news, lifestyle and entertainment programming from Africa. The mission of AFRICAST TV is to create a bouquet of destination channels in the U.S. for everything related to Africa and to create a daily window for Americans to experience the diversity, vibrancy and promise of modern Africa. The Company believes there is significant demand for high quality, family-oriented, pan-African programming which is not dominated by excessive violence, explicit sexual themes and foul language. The chance to fill a glaring void in the African American entertainment market by providing intelligent, appealing and relevant programming to a community that is calling for more than just Hip Hop and recycled sitcoms and is increasingly aware of its African heritage and identity, cannot be overlooked. The Company has carved a niche by connecting the millions of African expatriates, African-Americans, and Caribbean people living in North America and Europe with a high quality cultural experience that not only they can identify with, but that peoples of all races will be able to enjoy. AFRICAST TV affords cable operators an opportunity to attract subscribers from a significant market segment not specifically targeted by other programming services and to diversify the mix of programming offered on their cable systems. More and more cable customers are developing a taste for on-demand programming. Consumers expect to see what they want, when they want it. Morgan Stanley estimates that VOD will be deployed in 85-90% of digital cable households by 2006. To meet this opportunity, AFRICAST TV is offered as subscription video on demand (SVOD) directly on this website and through selected cable operators. This is an incredibly exciting time for television and we believe that VOD is a first step in changing the broadcast paradigm into a one-to-one, personal TV model that will benefit everyone. The demand for high quality pan-African programming has never been greater. The Company’s viewers represent a very viable market that will continue to expand as more people come to depend on Over-the-Internet video delivery and Cable TV in search of high quality pan-African programming and content. Properly executed, AFRICAST TV will be credited for the creation of the world’s first domestic and global television and Over-the-Internet video delivery network delivering high quality programming for and about Africa and a pan-African Diaspora.
